About

I am Emma and I worked for many years as a primary school teacher and dance coordinator before my son, Obie, was born.
As my son started school, I also embarked on a new venture that would lead to the start up of Connect Play Create.
Having previously trained as a dancer and then continuing my exploration of the subject through further study of Choreography and Dance Movement Psychotherapy, I decided to return to my love of working with children and my passion for the creative arts – in particular dance!
My work with Early Years and Primary aged children has enabled me to deepen my experience of ‘in the moment’ planning and working within a child-led environment where flexibility and adaptability are key. I love working in this dynamic way!
I am passionate about the importance of play and creativity, and I strongly believe that dance is a vehicle for this.
I strive to provide experiences that enable children to play, explore, imagine, and take ownership and express their own voice, developing their self-esteem and well-being.
I feel that it is an absolute privilege to work with children!
More recently, I have developed my practice through further professional training, broadening my experience of working with a wider range of ages and people with a wider range of needs. I value the importance of tuning into and listening to others as they communicate, both verbally and non-verbally and to value everyone as unique individuals.
As well as dance, my other interests include music and art. I love being surrounded by music and playing my bass guitar and helping my son as he is currently learning to play the guitar and drums. Any chance that I have, I thoroughly enjoy creating artwork, in particular lino printing and working with pastel and oil crayons. Making art and being creative, whether in the form of music, dance, art or play, is essential for my own wellbeing and self-nurture.
My credentials include:
- Post graduate certificate in Dance Movement Psychotherapy
- BA (Hons) Primary studies with QTS
- Thrive licensed practitioner
- Sherborne Developmental Movement practitioner
- Love to Move qualified deliverer
I have an enhanced DBS and have professional and public liability insurance.
Safeguarding training is up to date, including Advanced Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults at Risk.
